Get to know about our research projects
In 2022-2023, our educational research focused on various topics affecting Europe, with a particular emphasis on inclusivity. We believe that education plays an essential role in the promotion of the core values of the Council of Europe: democracy, human rights and the rule of law, as well as in the prevention of human rights violations. More generally, education is increasingly seen as a defence against the rise of violence, racism, extremism, xenophobia, discrimination and intolerance. We identified key issues and gaps in current EU policies and initiatives aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion through extensive literature reviews, reports and journals. These reports all informed MEPs' work prior to the European Youth Event 2023.

Elections
Direct elections in the EU establish a crucial link between citizens and decision-making, fostering a sense of common identity. However, European elections face the challenge of low turnout compared to national elections. This report explores the reasons behind low voter participation, discusses potential solutions to increase turnout, and highlights the importance of inclusivity in European elections.
Refugees
This report examines the historical development of international migration and its role in relation to demographic growth, highlighting societal security concerns in the 2&st century. In light of the securitization of migration and strict border controls, shifting these dynamics towards inclusivity can help develop more effective policies on migration in the EU.
